- Sensory 4 Life -
Your Team
Your team is who ever is part of your day to day life. Who will be helping maintain schedules and daily life? This is the answer. This is your team. If you use the spreadsheets make sure to share them. If everyone is one the same page things will become predictable and the anxiety that comes along with the unexpected will be reduced or eliminated. For both the team and the child/individual.
For an effective and well executed sensory diet; the diet should be implemented throughout the day and added as part of your routine. Similar to brushing your teeth, sensory tools should be utilized as a step in a process just like getting ready for your day. And getting ready for the day or for bed is a great time to implement pieces of your diet! For instance the scrub brush can be used as part of your bath routine. The aqua light as part of calming before bed. For someone with sensory issues the little things add up; the sensory tools act to combat this and help you slowly de-stimulate. By consistently de-stimulating a more livable base line is established. This is where your team comes in. It is important that everyone is onboard and consistent. One might argue, "This doesn't work!", but if it is not being properly implemented it certainly will not. Consistency is key. And again with the predictability, it is always an asset.
